Sooooo Sandblast was this past Sat and it is this beach party that they throw every semester right after midterms. Its free booze and free food and it's pretty much a chance for everyone one to unwind. Luckily for me, the beach is right outside my dorms so I didn't have to worry about getting there or making sure I made it back when I got completely plastered. And also, luckily for me, my friend Brian was working the bar so I never had to wait to get a drink and he gave me all the vodka I wanted. And of course, that meant that Drunk Tiffany came out to play. How exciting.
So some "highlights" of this 6 hour booze fest: they had this tubing thing where they drive the boat at breakneck speed and pull you behind them on plastic tube things as you hold on for dear life. We (Carolyn and I) never made it on since the line was too long and we wanted to drink and play in the sand. Which might have been a good thing because some of the people who went were pretty much catapulted into the air and actually hurt their necks a little when they landed in the water. This kinda reminded me of spring break in PR when I was the only one who feel of the banana boat and Dennis was yelling that there was a shark in the water. oh memories.
There was also a "Hot Body Contest" which was pretty much people oiling themselves down and dancing like whores - it actually looked like a Girls Gone Wild or Spring Break Cancun scene. I did not participate but I did watch the craziness of it all while eating bbq chicken in the corner like a fat kid.
Thennn at the end of the party, the security guard brings this drunk girl over to my roommate and asks her to take her to the bathroom. We have no idea who she is cause she's not our term nor does she live at our dorm. But she has no idea where her friends were or where her shoes are so we take her up to our room cause we didn't know what else to do. Carolyn gives her dry clothes and she ends up sleeping in our bed for a few mins before deciding that she wants to go home. And as we're walking her to the shuttle, this random kid comes up to us saying that he's visiting from Chicago, he can't find his friend who he's staying with, and how he has no idea where he is or where he's supposed to go. We weren't that much more sober than these two people were and since we didn't live on the other campus, we couldn't really do much. But luckily there was a group of people who knew the girl and the guy that the kid was staying with so we let the two of them go with the group. I know she got home safely cause I texted to make sure but hopefully that kid found his friend and isn't wandering around Grenada lost or something. haha
All in all, I'd say that it was a really good day and I actually had a really good time (thank you vodka). Most of the "Usuals" from the library were there and we did our normal quick hello and went our separate ways like always. It was slightly weird to see how drunk these people were and to know that one day they would be doctors but I guess we all study hard and just party harder. And I was happy that I had enough sense to stop drinking after a few hours so that I wasn't hung over the next day ( pr maybe it was cause I couldn't find the tent with the Jello shots.....). And of course, the very next day, I was back in the library by 10am...along with most of the Usuals. And being here is back to being lame and boring.
[If you click on that picture at the top of this page, I think it takes you to the album which has more pictures than on facebook. But if that doesn't work, then the link is also somewhere to the right of all this writing. ]
